Ever wonder what it would be like to hop in a ride share with more peace of mind? Yesterday, I discovered a brand new feature in the Lyft app called Women+ Connect, a new service that could be a game-changer for women in our community.
I was admittedly way too excited when the Women + Connect pop up showed up in my Lyft app, I have always had a little anxiety when it comes to hopping in a stranger’s car, despite the amazing safety features the Lyft app has. Women + Connect is a new option that lets women and nonbinary drivers connect with riders like me — a blind woman navigating the world with a bit more caution. The beauty of Women+ Connect lies in its simplicity; with a simple setting adjustment in the app, my ride requests are more likely to be matched with women and nonbinary drivers. This isn’t just about getting from point A to B; it’s about doing so with a sense of safety and shared understanding. It’s comforting to know that Lyft is acknowledging and acting on the diverse needs of its riders, offering more than just a service, but a sense of community on the road.
