Vocational Rehabilitation
If you are serious about finding employment, you will want to make your local VocationalRehabilitation office your very first stop.. Your local office will be staffed with Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and other specialized staff to meet all of your vocational needs. Services range from counseling and guidance to help you learn about your strengths and abilities and explore career options to orientation and mobility services to help you safely navigate to and from work. If necessary, you may even be able to obtain funding for higher education. This is a great resource to obtain information regarding your rights and some innovative ideas when it comes to being employed with a disability.
Job Accommodation Network
This resource has great information including links to detailed information about the ADA and specific recommendations for accommodations in the workplace.
AFB Career Connect
This is a lesser known resource full of amazing information especially catered to individuals with vision loss who are looking for work. You can even connect with a mentor for assistance and questions.
World Services for the Blind
If you are looking for career path training and workshops to increase your independence and life skills make sure you take a look at this resource. World Services for the Blind offers training for individuals with disabilities to enter into well paying fields including Information Technology, Credit Counseling and positions with the IRS.
